Beautiful shiny ruby red colour. Noble aromas of red and black fruit are accompanied by noble impressions of cedar, coffee, cocoa, leather and vanilla. Lovely balance between primary fruit impressions and more complex notes. Despite its intense character, it manifests remarkable elegance and finesse. This perfect balance just continues into the deliciously long finish. Enjoy and continue to enjoy!
As the domain's top wine, Arca de Asa is a tasting experience in itself that really doesn't need food to stand out. In any case, serve it on special or festive occasions and with dishes that call for exceptional wines.
- climate
-
The climate in Rioja Alavesa is determined more than in the rest of Rioja by the Atlantic Ocean. Protection from that same northern influence by the Cantabrian mountains. Combined with high altitude vineyards, this guarantees short but very hot summers cooled by Northern winds and long mild winters with plenty of precipitation.
- soil

Arca de Asa is the only vineyard located outside Laguardia. It is located in Lanciego and still belongs to Javier's wife's grandmother. The special terroir is fermented and bottled completely separately and is a tribute to the grandmother. The vineyard is over 80 years old, is at 430m altitude and consists of clay and limestone.

Picking is done by hand. Strict selection and limited yield. Classic temperature-controlled fermentation. Malolactic fermentation on inox. NO much too long (Gran Reserva) maturation in all kinds of barrels but simply 16 months in the best, new French barrels of 500 and 225 litres. After bottling, the wine first rests for about 12 months in bottle. Great storage potential.
