Torcilacqua

- Tuscany, Italy -

 Logo of Cueva de Lobos

Matteo Mariotti took over the Torcilacqua company in June 2018 after having worked for many years in the family business. Born in 1979, married and with two daughters, he decided to pursue his dream and produce wine! A passion that was born as a boy and which today has finally materialized in our Torcilacqua wines. The company is located in Badia a Passignano, in the heart of Chianti Classico with a view of the surrounding vineyards and woods. The property extends in a single body on the south, south-west side of the hill, in front of the historic abbey at an average altitude of 350m above sea level. The perfect exposure, the microclimatic conditions of the area and the balanced texture of the soil allow us to obtain grapes of the highest quality for the production of wines with great structure. The vineyards have an average age of 20 years, and the forms of pruning adopted are guyot and spurred cordon. The average plant density per hectare is 5,000 plants. The varieties cultivated at the moment are Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with which three distinct wines are produced.

Domaine Naturabilis

- Bourgogne, France -

 Logo of Cueva de Lobos

Thomas Collogne is the 7th generation of a winemaking family and the owner of Domaine Colonat in Morgon (Beaujolais). Colonat already has a rich history as a top estate and is one of the established values of the region. In 2017, Thomas decided to establish his own domain alongside the family estate where he could fully express himself and his own ideas. His goal is to produce high-end wines in limited quantities that are fully in harmony with nature and with as little external influence as possible. The vineyards are completely organically cultivated and are labeled as natural wine. Sulfites are barely used, fermentation occurs in stainless steel, and aging takes place in amphorae. The result is a deliciously fruity wine with a playful structure and an enviable pure character. Naturabilis is Latin for "In harmony with nature," which nicely summarizes the entire philosophy.

La Légèreté de l'être

- Languedoc, France -

 Logo of Finca Rodma

This innovative project is a collaboration between Axel Wulfken and Allied Vintners. There has been a growing demand for low-alcohol or alcohol-free wines for some time now. However, the options available so far were not particularly impressive in terms of quality and rarely offered a pleasant taste experience. Thanks to new innovations and ideas, that is finally changing, we created a series of wines with only half the alcohol content (7,5°), showcasing a seductive and flavorful character. They gave it the fitting name "La Légèreté de l'Être," which refers to the alcohol content, of course, but also to the moments when these wines charm exceptionally. These are truly summery styles that shine best on a delightful terrace, at the beach, or in the company of a light (Mediterranean or otherwise) meal. However, do not be mistaken! "Light" does not refer to the taste!

Salt + Stone

- California, United States -

 Logo of Cueva de Lobos

The idea behind this latest blend from the Wine Hooligans originates from the benefits of blending. This can involve using a different grape variety or the same grape variety that underwent a different 'upbringing', where shortcomings or deficiencies of a grape or its specific vintage are complemented by another grape or the same grape that has been aged differently, for example. This makes the result more complete and interesting without tampering with the soul of the wine. However, here the same grape from two different locations is always combined. Vineyards near the coast benefit from the wind and temperature variations (Salt), while inland vineyards are usually warmer and experience less cooling (Stone). This gives the winemaker the opportunity to combine the structured, refined, and slightly salty character of the coast with the warm, lush, and deeper character of the inland. It results in a more complete and complex wine that showcases the best of both worlds.

Cycles Gladiator

- California, United States -

 Logo of Cueva de Lobos

The very first thing he (Dennis Carrol) did was to pick up and take over the iconic wine label Cycles Gladiator. Simultaneously, he put the original founder and highly talented winemaker, Adam LaZarre, back at the helm. After his departure, Cycles Gladiator had become a producer of mass wines where quality completely took a backseat. The label itself was refurbished and restored to its former glory. The red-haired beauty slicing through the sky on her bike symbolizes the struggle for freedom of women all over the world and their fight for equality after centuries of oppression and repression. LaZarre is one of the most talented and experienced winemakers in the Paso Robles region. His wines almost all feature in the "Best Buy" lists of all trade publications. They embody the most flavorful version of each respective grape used.

It is the most popular grape in California, combining the ever-present sun with seductive exotic fruit flavors, hints of vanilla, coconut, and its delightfully creamy and buttery character that is characteristic of this grape. Portlandia

When you open the Portlandia website, you are greeted with large bold letters that say, 'PLAY HARD WORK LATER!'... A piece of advice we certainly can't just ignore. It also says a lot about the founder and winemaker Damian Davis, who in 1999 set off on a long road trip from Florida to the northwest of the United States in search of a job in the technology sector. When he arrived in the Willamette Valley during harvest season, he instantly fell in love with the most beautiful landscape he had ever seen. By the time he reached his final destination, his car was so loaded with wine bottles that he could barely make it. In 2008, he decided to leave his career behind and make a fresh start in the wine industry. Portlandia was born. In this rather cool climate, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are the absolute protagonists. With the help of Adam LaZarre, Damian produces a range of extraordinary wines that combine exceptional taste pleasure with a pleasant price.

Vignobles Bardet

- Bourgogne, France -

 Logo of Cueva de Lobos

The story of the Bardet family starts in the 18th century when one of their ancestors with his boat took care of the transport of wines to the port. The vineyards located next to the Garonne (from Bergerac to Bordeaux) were thus able to transport and export their products. After some time some vineyards were bought and with the entry of the railways, transport over the river was soon superfluous. It allowed the family to concentrate more and more on wine-making. The original boat, however, was included in the family coat of arms and remains on all bottles until now. The current owner, Philippe Bardet, with the help of his sons, runs the various Châteaux with great dedication and great concern for the environment and ecosystems. Both on the field and in the basement no effort is spared to keep the ecological footprint as small as possible. It is not sprayed preventively or threated with chemical fertilizers, chance of superfluous oxidation is kept as small as possible, geothermal energy is used and some wines are bottled even without added sulphite. Châteaux Franc le Maine and Château Paradis were last bought. The latter domain used to belong to the family and is a 5-hectare paradise for vines along the banks of the Garonne. It has become the "home" of the family. The wine produced here is one of the absolute top wines of Bordeaux!
